Endorsements
for the Florida Horse Council
“Forming a group to represent the entire horse industry in Florida is a
great idea. It is very important to join forces, and the Florida Horse Council
— where all the breeds and disciplines are well-represented — is the
answer. With the exception of pari-mutuels, we all face the same issues here.
With a broader and stronger voice, the industry will be more successful at achieving
its goals… Breeders, trainers, owners and everyone else associated with
the horse industry need to understand that both the state and federal governments
play a big role in how we operate the industry, whether for racing, business or
pleasure.”
– Richard Hancock, Executive VP,
Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’
and Owners’ Assn.
“The conception
and the implementation of the Florida Horse Council is paramount to the horse
industry, horse enthusiasts and those who appreciate the horse as it exists
today and for what it has done for us in the past. The Florida Horse Council
will be the vehicle that will combine the various horse organizations and disciplines
into a single solid format and a strong voice which is necessary to support,
maintain and inform the public and our state government as to what the horse
means to Florida, relative to not only the economic well being of the state
but the beauty and preservation of the horse in the ‘Horse Capital of
The World.’”
– Clayton P. Fell, President,
Southern Regional Paso Fino Horse Assn.
“It is a great idea. I am all for it. Our organization has about 600 members
and we have been functioning since 1968. We would definitely be interested (in
joining) and think the Florida Horse Council is a great idea.”
– Carol LeMaster, President,
Palm Beach County Horseman’s Assn.
“I feel that having a voice for all disciplines and facets of the horse
industry is very important. A voice that will represent everyone in the horse
industry couldn’t be more important. Not only do the entrepreneurs of
the horse industry need support, everyone does… We all face hurtles in
the equine industry, some just on a larger scale than others; but nonetheless,
we are all affected. Forming a diversified group to protect us all is in our
best interest.”
– Rachel Houghton, President,
Florida Cowboy Mounted Shooting Assn.
“This is
a long overdo organization. Whatever voice the equestrian industry can have
in governmental issues in the state of Florida is to our benefit. Further, if
there is anything that the International Polo Club and Palm Beach can do to
support and encourage it, I would be more than willing to take it to them to
see what we can do.”
– Mason Phelps, Jr., Owner,
Phelps Media Group, Inc.
