should join the Florida Horse Council?
The Florida Horse Council gives a unified voice to the 440,000 Florida residents
who participate in our horse industry and is comprised of Florida’s horse
breeders, owners, trainers, riders and enthusiasts. If you own a horse or your
living is dependant upon horses and you live in Florida, the Florida Horse Council
was created for you. Joining the Florida Horse Council gives our industry the
strength it needs to accomplish our goals.
3. What
are some issues concerning The Florida Horse Council?
The Florida Horse Council will deal with issues such as growth management, taxes
, alternative therapy practices, equine health issues, environmental issues,
and other concerns related to the state’s horse industry An immediate
concern is to maintain livestock classification for horses in Florida as an
agriculture so that farm owners can be treated like the rest of the agriculture
businesses and get federal assistance in the case of disasters such as hurricaines.
4. What
are the dues used for?
The Florida Horse Council is a not-for-profit, 501(c)5 trade association. Dues
are used to cover the expense of getting the horseman’s voice heard throughout
our state, to educate our lawmakers about the needs of horsemen and to educate
our horsemen about issues concerning them in the government.
5. What
do I get as a member of the Florida Horse Council?
The Florida Horse Council members have increased buying power. Through the National
Thoroughbred Racing Association and the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’
and Owners’ Association, members are part of NTRA Purchasing, which includes
discounts from John Deere, Dodge, FedEx, Sherwin Williams, OfficeMax and Lexmark.
The Florida Horse
Council members will become more educated. As members, you will get Horse Capital
Digest, which will enable you to learn about the interests and concerns of other
breeds and disciplines, as well as stay informed about what is going on at the
